Fardh+Nawafil= Acceptance of Duas

Abû Hurayrah – radiallâhu ’anhu – relates that the Messenger of Allâh sallallâhu ’alayhi wa sallam said:

“Allâh – the Most High – has said: “Whosoever shows enmity to a friend of Mine, I shall be at war with him.My servant does not draw near to Me with anything more beloved to Me than the Fardh(obligatory duties). And My servant continues to draw near to Me with the Nawafil (optional) actions, so that I shall love him. So when I love him I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask something of Me, I would surely give it to him; and were he to ask Me for shelter, I would surely grant him it.”

Hijab Today!

Some sins begin when you start doing that deed and end when you stop doing it. But some sins become a constant state that you are in. One such sin is not wearing the hijab. You enter this state when you come out without hijab infront of non mehram men, whether he is your male servant, your brother in-law who lives in  the same house as you do, or when you step out of the house to run an errand. You are in a constant state of sin when you are out and about doing your normal daily chores without even realizing that you are sinning.  Do you ever wonder  that when you perform a good deed in such a state, will it be accepted?

On the flip side, those sisters who wear the hijab, are in a constant state of Ibadah. Shaykh Waleed Basyouni said: “Every time you wear your hijab and you leave your home, can you imagine every single second passed by you [in that state] , you are worshiping Allah, you’re being rewarded for it, so the account of your reward is going on until you come back home, even I don’t get that ajar [reward] as a man, this is only for you, this is from Allah’s ni’mah and bounty upon you.” Subhan Allah!

Besides that, did you know that the shroud (کفن) of a woman consists of 5 pieces of cloth? One of which is the headscarf? Sisters, why do you want to wait for the day when other women will tie that piece of cloth around your head without asking you or your husband or your parents if they should dress you in a headscarf? Why not pick up that piece of cloth and tie it around your heads today, and obey Allah as he should be obeyed!

Narrated by Abu Dawood (3157) from Layla bint Qaanif al-Thaqafiyyah who said: I was among those who washed Umm Kulthoom the daughter of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) when she died. The first thing that …the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) gave to us was the hiqa’ (lower garment) then the dar’ (chemise), then the khimaar (head cover), then the milhafah (wrapper), then she was wrapped in the last wrapper. She said: And the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was sitting by the door with her shrouds, handing them to us piece by piece.

It was classed as da’eef by al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel (723), but this hadeeth has corroborating evidence in a report narrated by al-Jawzi from Umm ‘Atiyyah (may Allaah be pleased with her) who said: We shrouded her in five pieces of cloth and we covered her as a living woman is covered. Al-Haafiz said: Its isnaad is saheeh. Fath al-Baari (3/159).

The madhhabs (Hanafi, Maaliki, Shaafa’i, Hanbali and Zaahiri) are agreed that it is mustahabb for a woman to be shrouded in five pieces of cloth.

Sisters understand the gravity of the situation and take charge of it today, lest time runs out. Do not delay this matter, do not say tomorrow or after I get married or after I perform Hajj. This is a fardh (obligatory) upon us and no excuse will be heard from us regarding it.
